The only thing constant in business today is change. With this fact in mind we setout to make it easier for end users to manage change by including a number of “runtime” customization tools in the CBP. With these tools users have control over not only which information is displayed, but also who can view and modify that data.
The ability to secure confidential information from “non-authorized” employees is critical to any business. Accordingly the CBP includes a “User Role” function that allows Administrators to define an unlimited number of user roles (i.e. Administrator, Clerk, Accountant, etc) and then customize the Menus, Dashboards, Reports and Screens for each user role a company has setup.
| Runtime Menu and Dashboard Designer |
The screenshot below shows the Menu Designer for the Administrator User Role with the “Chart of Accounts” menu item selected. Users can customize their menu items by setting the appropriate properties on the right. In addition to being able to set security permissions the runtime designer also allows users to manually change which plug-in form is loaded when the menu item is selected. Since this is saved on a “per role” basis, it is possible to have different forms load for users in different roles using the same menu item. The possibilities are endless.
The dashboard designer works in the same way. The workflow dashboard as seen below is a HTML page with a parameter to open a form based on the NumKey. The default workflow can be easily customized in any HTML editor and assigned per user role. This gives end users complete control over the graphical workflow. Other Dashboard plug-ins offer similar flexibility.
