What edition of Visual Studio 2005 is nessisary to use the SDK? Is standard fine, or is professional required?

To be honest I am not sure because I have not tested it yet using that environment but you can give it a try.

So far not successful with VS 2005 express edition.  Does it work with VS 2003 edition?

I have installed visual studio 2005 express.  When I try to install CBPF_VBNET_V1_0_184_0.EXE, it gives "Visual Studio .NET 2005 is not installed" message.  Does that mean I have to install VS 2005 professional edition?

We are not using VS 2005 Express therefore we have not tested the CBPF using that platform.  You need to use VS 2005 Pro Edition to use the factory.

I have installed VS 2005 professional edition.  Rebooted my pc.  Now trying to run CBPF_VBNET_V1_0_184_0.EXE.  It complains "Guidance Automation Extensions is not installed.  Click Yes to be directed to a web page with the extensions MSI.  Click No to exit".  I clicked on 'Yes'.  It takes me to msdn.microsoft.com/practices site.  What am I supposed to download and install from this site?

You need to install the Guidance Automation Extension because it is a prerequisite to the plugin factory.  I checked the link but it seems that it was moved to a different location that is why the installer redirected you to a different page.  Anyway use this link to download GAX and install it on your computer.
